Prasiolite belongs to the crystal group and is actually a yellowish quartz or amethyst, which receives its leek green color by firing the stone (at 500° C). Since its discovery in 1950, prasiolite has been cherished for its clear, brilliant and delicate colors. Like amethyst, prasiolite consists of silicon, titanium, manganese, and iron. The main sites where prasiolite can be found are in Brazil, Mexico and Western Australia. Prasiolite is believed to strengthen our intuition, stimulate the imagination and allow its wearer to judge and act righteously. It is also thought to foster physical well-being by having a calming effect on heart and nerves. Prasiolite may also help with stress-related tension and improve one's ability to concentrate.
